Create an all day fitness lifestyle using walking

If you’ve ever questioned if walking is fitness, then today’s episode is for you. I’m speaking with Dave Paul of the Walking is Fitness Podcast and his journey to what he calls an “active fitness lifestyle.”

I think you’ll really appreciate Dave’s mindset around the steps he takes, and I particularly liked how he said walking changed his spiritual life…but it may not be in ways you’d expect.

Dave Paul is the host of Walking is Fitness podcast, which is a 10 minute daily show he records while on a walk. He has been married to his wife Ava for 39 years. They have six children and seven grandchildren. He’s  been with the same Christian radio station (BRIGHT-FM in Balto) for 36 years…mostly on-air. I’ve been walking for fitness ten years…averaging close to 20k steps a day.

We discuss

  • How Dave’s running cooldown prompted him to walk more
  • Respecting the seasons we are in and recognizing what we are realistically able to do
  • The surprising spiritual growth Dave received when he began walking as his fitness
  • How tracking steps is helpful…but not at all costs

Speaking of body care…

I can’t tell you how many conversations I’ve had with friends over the last six months that revolve around peeing while sneezing, coughing, or doing any high impact movements. One friend said when she walks too much her insides feel like they are dropping out and another has to be close to a bathroom at all times. Every time I tell them the same thing: you’ve got to get the Tighten Your Tinkler program.

You may remember my delightful conversation with the Tighten Your Tinkler girls, Jenn Lormand and Christina Walsh which was full of laughter about a heavy subject, pelvic floor health. I’ve personally gone through the program and am pleased to report I don’t have to stop and cross my legs when I sneeze anymore and even my nighttime bathroom trips have reduced. Look, I consider this an all-nighter! My nagging lower back issue is significantly better as well thanks to the program and tools they provided.

If you deal with any of these issues or more serious ones like prolapse, discomfort during or after intimacy, or need to get everything back in place after a hysterectomy, this program is for you. We want you to take back control of your body and regain your confidence. Jenn and Christina are the women you want in your corner and they’ve generously offered $50 off using the code GRACEDHEALTH. If you haven’t listened to our episodes, check them out below. As a bonus, this program is FSA and HSA eligible. Enroll here and use GRACEDHEALTH for $50 off.

  1. Hi Dave, I’ve been watching a few of your Youtube videos, but wasn’t sure how I go about hearing your 10 minute daily talks. Guess I haven’t used Podcasts up until now. When I listened today to my first ‘Walking’ podcasts, I was very surprised to hear it was all about your love of Coffee. I’m a retired Restaurant Owner who is getting back into Coffee in a BIG way. I thought I was sort of an expert on Coffee, but now after watching numerous Youtube videos every day the last 3 months, I realize that I knew next to nothing about Coffee and my assumed knowledge was northing more than owning a VERY expensive Espresso machine and Grinder for my restaurant. Coffee knowledge is far more involved than even Wine knowledge. I now have a new Espresso machine arriving at my home in December to join an older one I’ve had here for years. I’m leaving Friday for a 2 week stay in Florence, Italy, the home of Italian Espresso and also the best city for Gelato, another product that I made and served in my restaurant. I’ve been to Florence several other times, so this time I’ll skip most of the tourist spots and concentrate on walking each day to a new Espresso Cafe (or a couple of them). I used to be a runner too, but now walk, but not nearly as far as you. But, with my trip to Italy, I’ll walk 25,000 steps each day, for sure. I appreciate your philosophy of ‘Walking EACH Day’ and making it a Habit. I usually walk most days, but now I’ll make sure I walk EVERY DAY! Thanks.
