“Congratulations!  What is that?”

This has been the most common response when I tell people I was selected to be a Skirt Sports Ambassador.  It’s a fair question, and I’m willing to bet they are silently wondering if I’ve joined some multi-level-marketing and am going to deceptively push the brand every time I see them.

So just to clear some things up:

I’m not selling Skirt Sports.  I’m not getting any kind of commission or kickback as an Ambassador when you purchase from them.  I just want you to buy their products.

Why?  

• The actual fabric is very well made.  It doesn’t hold my stench and has just enough compression to hold in my extra fluff.
• Most of the bottoms and several of the tops have pockets – deep ones to hold my phone, running fuel, and dog treats.  I’ve even seen pictures of girls who carry airplane-sized flasks of their favorite adult beverages in them.  Hmm…
• The company’s mission is to help women find happiness through the transformative power of fitness.  Sound familiar?  They just want you to move and be healthy…my ultimate desire for you.
• The patterns and styles are cute and you can wear them anywhere.  Don’t like to exercise in a skirt?  No biggie. Look for shorts, capris, leggings and more with the same functionality and prints.  Tops have variety as well: loose fitting, form-fitting, with sleeves, and without sleeves.  Something for everyone.
• Products are made for REAL women with REAL bodies and they use REAL models.  They’re not pulling out the size-0s for the photo shoot.  In fact, their sizes go up to XXL (size 22).
• I have a slight girl crush on the founder, Nicole DeBoom.  She created the first running skirt when she was uninspired by her reflection in the window on a training run.  Is it so hard for all shapes to look cute while exercising? Not anymore. Also, she has an amazing podcast where she interviews visionaries who are changing their world.  Sometimes in my mind we have conversations where we figure out how to help women embrace their healthy size no matter what it looks like.  Yep, that’s a little creepy, I know.

Being selected as an Ambassador also gives me a common bond to other unique, yet like-minded, women.  We are different ages, shapes, colors, and live all over the country.  But we all love moving in our own way and want to encourage other women to do so.  While we have our own passions and personalities, it proves Maya Angelou’s statement still rings true, even in the health space:  “We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike.”
